Victims of crime have many different needs. Connect Gwent - the Victims’ Hub for all people living throughout the Gwent area -has been set up by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent in response to an identified need to prioritise support to victims of crime.
With this in mind, a multi-agency Hub has been set up that supports victims of crime for as long as they need. This may be practical or emotional support, or just providing information. It may be by supporting victims of crime directly, or by linking in with other agencies who may be able to give the most appropriate service.
All calls be dealt with initially by the team at Connect Gwent who are highly experienced victim care officers. They will undertake a full assessment of needs, and will provide a high level of support. If appropriate, and with permission, victims will be offered further support by specialist staff from a wide range of approved partner agencies, to ensure that victims receive the correct level of support to meet their needs.
All information will remain confidential and importantly, those victims who do not wish to report an incident to the Police can still receive the services of Connect Gwent via our self referral form. It may also be that some time has passed since a person was a victim of crime and may not have felt as though support was needed at the time, and we would welcome those calls too.
